Myspace!!!???

okay how do you convice your parents to get a myspace??? this is a question for my friend! plz help her!!!! her mom says shes not ready... and her older brother got one when he was like 12.. but she doesnt have one...

For starters, MySpace rules state you must be 13.

Maybe if she has her parents create her profile and control the password...and the privacy settings are set to where only people she knows will be added. Like people over 18 can not contact her, and she can not contact anyone over 18 or add them to her list. Have her default picture be an image of her favorite movie character or something...anything that is NOT of her, and her other pictures can be what her parents think is suitable for others to see.

She's obviously a young girl and speaking as someone from the pre-internet generation, the virtual world is a new realm for us. I will say it IS probably safer than the pen-palling I did at a young age...heck people around the world had my *home* address...and at least with MySpace, you do not give your real name OR home address nor is it visible unless you're foolish enough to post it.

If she lets her parents control her profile, maybe they'll allow it. Sure that's probably not fun, but maybe over time as her parents see there's nothing to worry about, they'll eventually let her manage her profile herself.

Just remember... people born before 1980 are a little leery of this whole internet-social-networking thing and we didn't have this form of communication available to us as young teens... while we love it and use it, it's still not something that we trust to be 100% safe for our kids! We have to be "broken in" slowly :-)

You dont need a parent to "get you my space" just sign up for it yourself. I've had a my space for years..im 16 and my parents still dont kno i have one. Who cares.
